There are several ways to educate yourself. I am going down the first of October, and am also apprehensive. Remember, you don't have to do anything but keep your eyes open and look around. If you don't feel comfortable, go somewhere else.

I started with the Internet and found Dayo Dental in Phoenix. They have a good website they you can use to begin to educate yourelf. Then, there is a website completely devoted to Los Algodones; I believe it is www.losalgodones.com. They list many dentists. Also, believe it or not, You-Tube has videos of people seeking dental treatment in Los Algodones. Look at Dr. Rubio's web site. Look at the website of the doctors you find on the Los Algodones web site.

Good luck and safe travels.

FYI

hi,

i had 4 crowns done last Oct at Dr Ana Maria Gutierrez. I was very pleased with the price and work. No pain, no problem. One tooth felt alittle high so i went back on a following trip and no problem, she fixed it. My brother inlaw had a crown done there, no problem so that is why i made an appointment. My sisters friend is going next month for 8 crowns.

We are using Yasmin Carvajal on Calz. Saratoga #187. I had my teeth cleaned for $30. A friend had gum surgery for $360, considerably lower than it would have been in the US. Ten days later the gum is healing nicely and there were no complications. (An oral surgeon was brought in for this)

A porcelain crown is $230, versus the $1150 quoted here in the US.

Dr. Francisco Vallejo was recommended to me by some older friends that have used her for years. I'm getting Veneers put on ($350 each).

Her # is 928.920.0613 a US # but they make the appts and answer questions. Algadones Mexico. I'm spending the night in Yuma.

Good luck

In Dec 2007, I had 23 crowns put on by Dra. Ma. Elena Rodriguez, telephone direct from the U.S. - 011-52-658-517-7589. I have been completely satisfied with her work. They look good and I have had no problems with them.

I had my work done after seeing my brother-in-law's crowns. He grinds his teeth so bad that he had to have them all crowned. His parents, that winter over in Arizona, had been going to her for 10 years, I believe.

My crowns cost $150 each, but that was a little over a year ago.

Park on the U.S. side of the border and walk over. I think every dentist in Los Algodones is located within 4 blocks of the border crossing.

Don't forget your passport. I think you need it to get back into the U.s.

I am a 52 yr old teacher in Gilroy, CA. I have been going to the same dentist at Dental Betel in Los Algodones for about 4 years. She has also treated my 82 year old father. I have had bridges, a root canal,a partial, a crown, and three implants. Dr. Carajal is a warm, caring person with a beautiful clinic that is state of the art (better than my old dentist in Gilroy, CA!) She will fill out your insurance forms and give you your xrays and records if you want them. Her prices are about 1/8 of USA prices.

She is married to a retired border patrol officer. They live in Yuma. He will pick you up and drive you to and from her office. She was first in her class in dental school. I am taking my 87 year old mother-in-law to see her in Feb. She is so careful and gentle. You can check out her website and see pictures of the clinic and staff.

Last time I went, my dental insurance, Delta, wanted to have the work evaluated by an independent dentist here in CA before they paid the claim. I went to the dentist of their choosing in Salinas, CA. He said the work was first rate and exceptional. Delta paid the claim. check it out at http://yasmincarvajal.com/

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just wanted to post a follow up on my installation of lumineers in Algodones. BEWARE I am having mine taken off and Veneers put on in the US. Reason: They are POROUS and turn very yellow. I have to whiten them almost weekly and this should not be. Also they are not smooth and it feels like I have skuzz on my teeth all the time.

Honestly, I should have checked the lab work done before letting them install the lumineers. The dentist was GREAT..I repeat GREAT but the lab work was sub-standard. I would go back to her for crowns but am spending $5200 to have 4 good front teeth put on in the US. (veneers)

I see now the dentist in Mexico do mostly veneers. I should have had veneers but they wanted to grind too much of my teeth down so I opted for the Lumineers,.

My Mexican lumineers (1 of 4) popped off after 4 months so I opted to get all of them replaced at this time. I also read that if a dentist wants to grind your teeth down a lot for veneers (like to stubs) get away from that dentist. It isn't necessary.

Ok..just wanted to do the follow up.
