Ferry from Rhodes to Mamaris, Turkey

Has anybody done the ferry trip from Rhodes to Mamaris in Turkey? If so, is it easy enough to sort yourself or do you need to use an agent, any idea of costs and if it’s a nice trip? Thanks in advance

Hey, it’s very easy to do. It’s 30 euros plus 15 euros for the port taxes in turkey.

Check online the Faliraki Sea Lines website and it has all the details

Just note that to enter Turkey you will need a Visa. These can be obtained and printed off in the UK but

they do cost and the charge is in US Dollars. Visit www. e-visaturkey.co.uk for more info.

Whether you need a visa for Turkey or not depends on what your nationality is. (Trip Advisor profile location doesn't necessarily indicate nationality). There are also visa exemptions for some nationalities who would otherwise need one, if they both arrive and depart by sea, and stay in the country no longer than 48 hours. They're intended for passengers on cruise ships, but also work on day trips like Rhodes-Marmaris-Rhodes.

One caution if the OP does take the day trip. Some of the packaged excursions throw in a "free" guided tour of Marmaris. This seems to consist of being taken by coach to a carpet shop and a gold showroom, where sales staff try a hard sell on you. Even if you're in the market for carpets or jewellery you may find better value in the main shopping district.

Many thanks for all of your replies and links, very helpful - I’m a UK citizen visiting Rhodes so I’ll take a look at the visa link too, thanks :-)

As a UK citizen you don't currently need an e-visa for a day trip from Rhodes to Marmaris by sea. You would need an e-visa if you arrived in Turkey by air, or if you stayed longer than 72 hours.

In addition the visa website linked to in post #2 is not the official Turkish Government one, and is a private moneymaking enterprise that charges more than the official site https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/info/

Hi John R. Depending on which boat you take either just over or just under an hour. Enjoy.
