Getting around

Hi. We'll be arriving in May for 4 days and wondered if we need a car to get around ? The island looks pretty small but we like to explore the whole place while there. We are staying at Lividaka the whole time, and like to cook for ourselves at times. Is fresh fish available somewhere? Also a supermarket?

To see the island you'll need a car, the only really useful bus service for you is between the ferry port Livadi and the Chora. You are staying very close to a good beach. Livadi is, where most of the tavernas , mini markets ,shops and the ATMs are, is only a five minute walk or so away from you, and perhaps the best beach is at Psilli Amos maybe a 50 minute walk for you.

You could spend a pleasant four days where you are ,but the rest of the island is well worth exploring. A good map is a 1:25.000 of the island published by Anaasi.v

You will need to rent a car to visit some beaches as the local bus connecting Livadi to the beaches is only operating during the summer. Y0u can find fresh fishes in the grocery shops and supermarkets in Livadi, maybe even straight from the fishing boats at the port. Livadakia is a great place for accommodation. Do visit Ganema beach, the old mines and Chora. For more info about the island you can check my blog post: https:/…
