We are coming into Hopkins Village on Christmas Eve. I was wandering what to expect...restaurants, activities etc. I’m sure we’ll want to go to a midnight mass. Any info would be helpful.
There will be a service at Holy Family RC. https://holyfamilychurchbelize.org/
On Christmas Eve, many make their way to Church late in the evening, and get out at midnight bringing in Christmas. The celebration continues until the sun comes up.
You will need to make reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Peer's Place will be open and is an "upscale" restaurant in the village. All resorts will be open, but again make reservations. Some local restaurants will close. Not many activities as Christmas is a time to be with family.
Preparing for the Christmas season here for locals means a deep cleaning of the home and yard. It’s not unusual for the house to get a fresh coat of paint and some curtains as the Hopkins families prepare for their extended families that want to come to the beach and make a visit back from the states. There may be a string of lights or none at all. Instead of the usual chicken, they enjoy fish and hams, order an extra case of stout and serve rum popo as their family members and visitors come and go during the holiday season.
