Has anyone stayed at Beaches and Dreams resort in Hopkins? And has anyone been to Hopkins in January? Thanks so much.
Beaches and Dreams is a nice boutique hotel located in Sittee Point in the resort area. They have both cabanas and hotel rooms for you to choose from depending on your taste. The Barracuda Bar & Grill is a great restaurant located on site. They recently added another restaurant--a coffee bar with pastries and snacks. B&D's is walking distance to a few other restaurants, but about a mile or two from Hopkins Village. However, it is only a $2.50US/$5BZ taxi ride into the village where there are local restaurants and gift shops that are more budget friendly.
January is a popular time to come as it's in the dry season and hot, but about ten degrees cooler in the evenings than non-winter months.
Haven't been there in January, but Beaches and Dreams was extraordinary. Would return tomorrow and every day after that! Our room was in the hotel (vs. cabana) as we were afraid of August heat. Probably either would be fine. It is small so you get to really know the staff and became friendly enough with the other guests but plenty of privacy too if that is what you want. Got great advice from Jessica about activities that would fit our family. My sons got to play with their dog (and we may have adopted one of our own soon after we returned home...) We booked some activities through them (snorkeling) and others directly through the place as price was better (Palmento Grove Garifuna cultural experience). Barracuda restaurant was fine. We also went out to dinner elsewhere 2 nights. A few places within close walking distance, and taxi not expensive (or use a bike). We had breakfast included in our package and were glad for that. The pool is 2 steps from the rooms and the beach is maybe 20 paces away.
