Snow in Springdale, January

We have been to Springdale several times in the summer but this time we are planning a trip to Springdale in late January. What can we expect th weather to be? Thanks!

In winter you just need to come prepared for anything. While temps in the 40s might be common, it could dip well below freezing. Doubtful you would see highs much out of the 50s or low 60s. Snow possible but not really likely in canyon but more likely up on top. You need to use caution on higher elevation hikes.

We go to Moab every Christmas. There we deal more with snow than you will in Springdale. But if you go with really good footwear, layers and gloves, you'll be fine. Nice as crowds are low and probably lower prices on hotels.

Have fun.

probably the best reason to visit Zion in the winter, with how crazy the crowds are nowadays.

Zion's mesa tops will probably be covered with snow. Zion's upper terrace will likely be inaccessible via the Kolob Terrace road. But the main canyon really does not see any 'long lasting' snow. Ice on the trails will be commonplace, especially the ones that travel upwards. East Rim trail is in the shadows in the winter, so the worst ice conditions will be there.

Best to buy Yaks ore Icetrekkers
