san Francisco to Vegas

Thinking of driving from San Francisco to Vegas next September, through Yosemite and Death Valley. Has anyone got any advice on this, with places to stay en route and places of interest to stop and see please.

This is the Yosemite forum so we've curated topics for the Top Questions about Yosemite. Open the full TA website (not the app) and look to the right.

Enter via the South Entrance to visit Mariposa Grove first.

Geographically, Glacier Point & Sentinel Dome are 'next', but you may not have enough daylight left. Or maybe you take a picnic dinner up there.

Then enjoy Yosemite Valley.

Exit via Tioga Road stopping at the usual attraction. Exit via Tioga Pass.

Each of those areas (Mariposa Grove, Glacier Point Road, Yosemite Valley, Tioga Road / Tuolumne Meadows) has its own topic in the Top Questions. Also read the Trip Reports, the lodging topic, and any other relevant topic. The maps might help. Three full days would be good.

Weekdays are still busy in September, and weekends are very busy. Plan your visit carefully, get into the parking lot early, and enjoy your time.

For the overall drive, the California state forum is good. Or read the "What is a good route to travel to Yosemite from Las Vegas?" topic in the Top Questions.

For Death Valley NP, use that forum. There are some excellent Top Questions about DVNP.
