Dinner at Oceanarium Restaurant???

We are thinking of having dinner at Oceanarium Restaurant while in Waikiki in September, but I noticed on their website that they have a dress code, is it like a suite and tie place? About how expensive is it?

Just wanted to get some opinions from all you experts ;o)

Not a suit and tie place. This is from their website:

Dress Code

No swimwear. Shorts, T-shirts, and tank tops are discouraged during dinner service.

Here is the link to their website where you can download the buffet menu. we love to eat here and there always seems to be a coupon somewhere to get 20 - 25% off. www.pacificbeachhotel.com/dining/oceanarium

Thanks scorchestra! I guess I will have to pack some dresses ;o)

The menu doesn't seem to have prices, what is the average price? Just to get an idea if it's going to be an expensive dinner or not.

It's about $36 per person, maybe a bit more.

I believe the dinner buffet is around $35-$40 per person for an adult, but I didn't see the current price on the web site either.

Well, that doesn't sound that bad considering that it's a buffet and I know we will love the atmosphere!

Any idea how far (walking distance) it's from Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel?

Make sure to make a booking in advance. We tried to eat there last Thursday at 6pm and they were booked out for the night. When we enquired about the next night they only had 4:15pm and 8:30pm.

Dinner is from 4:30pm to 10pm. $36.95 each and I have not found any discount coupons in the local magazines, but I believe Friday it is 25% discount.

Featured entrees and pasta at the moment are:

Monday & Thursday - King crab legs, shrimp scampi

Tuesday & Wednesday - Seafood pasta with lobster cream sauce

Friday - Shrimp & vegetable tempura, BBQ shrimp pasta

Saturday - Shrimp & vegetable tempura, shrimp & scallop alfredo

Sunday - Dim Sum, BBQ Shrimp pasta

The number to call the for reservations is 921 6111.

We have decided to give it a miss as we don't want to be locked into a particular dinner time whilst we are exploring the island. We decided to eat at Duke's instead the night they couldn't take us and were seated immediately. We paid $67 including tip with a chicken entree each, free salad buffet, lemonade, lava flow and hula pie. We also had a lovely view of the beach.

In terms of dress code people seemed to be in resort casual. I just think they don't want short,s singlets and bikinis that's all.

If you're going to be in Hawaii for a special occassion, or just want to surprise someone with a special message, for about $25, one of the Diver's will hold up a sign, written per your instructions. Not only a good photo op, but pretty much ensures a 'front-row' table.
