two night stay

Hi!

We will be staying in SF for 2 nights at the beginning of our honeymoon then moving on to Albuquerque. What are some great places to eat in SF? We want to go to the places the locals enjoy.....not touristy type spots! Also, are there any great romantic night spots (like bars etc.) in SF?

What kind of food do you want? For local Northern NM food we like some of the same places tourists go which are The Shed and Tomasitas and a few that are more locals at La Choza, Maria's. If you want very casual then Del Charro. For higher end Italian try Pranzo, Osteria d Assisi. Coyote Cafe can be fun too. Also check www.santafe.org for more info.

Romantic bars well...we don't go out that much but I love the bar/lounge area at the Hotel Santa Fe.

We just had a wonderful meal at Tablo de los Santos within the Hotel St. Francis which I posted a review of. Their lounge, Secreto, serves up some of the best and creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. We happen to like the bar at the Anasazi, but the dining room seems way too stuffy for our style.

We also really like the patio at the Inn at the Loretto, or Luminaria. The food at Luminaria is quite good also.

The courtyard at the Palace Restaurant is really pretty and the new chef there is from a legendary place in Taos, the now defunct Joseph's Table. They serve food late and its really quite retro Santa Fe, if there is such a thing. Red velvet wallpaper, lots of history, local color, etc.

The Staab House, which is the lounge inside the La Posada resort is really historical and quite nice also.

CasaAzul nailed a few really good, old local institutions, with the exception of Maria's, which I personally can't stand.

try Los potrillos on Cerrillos... very local. Maria's has a great selection of tequila's but small menu

Also, el farol for tapas on Canyon Road. go early and sit on the patio for a sangria and people watch.

The pink/blue fajita stand on the plaza is the best! Galisteo Bistro is nice.

la casa sena courtyard is beautiful on palace ave and very romantic. It is open to the stars and gorgeous plantings. For fun, go into the cantina afterwards where the waitstaff sing Broadway tunes

slighty further out on Cerrillos is Jambo Cafe which is fabulous Caribbean/African. Coyote Cafe is nice but noisy and expensive

Inn if the Anasazi is beautiful for dinner or the outdoor patio for drinks.

For a fabulous but very expensive dinner, go to Geronimo's on Canyon Rd. It is a honeymoon treat but be prepared to spend $$$$. Tell then it is your honeymoon!
