Fireworks for the 4th

We will be coming to Estes during the week if the 4th. Any suggestions on fireworks viewing? Also, parking or any great “not to miss” Estes places? I haven’t been since I was a child and my husband has never visited. Thanks!

Below are links to previous but still relevant posts about both the crowds (which have gotten much larger) and where to watch July 4 fireworks over Lake Estes. Unless you plan to spend the day at the lake on the 4th, I strongly advise that you plan to take the free Estes Park Town Shuttles if you hope to get near downtown Estes Park. The shuttles run extended hours after the July 4th fireworks.

Other than the night of July 4th, the best place to park to access downtown Estes Park is the free parking garage behind the Estes Park Visitors Center. Walk the Riverwalk into town.

Of course, the must do when visiting Estes Park is to visit Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately, you have chosen one of the worst times of the year to visit RMNP from a crowd perspective. Heed the advice of RMNP rangers about better managing the overcrowding. With the timing of your visit, the times when RMNP trailhead parking lots will be full will be earlier than the times posted in this press release. You can definitely expect Bear Lake Road, Wild Basin Road and the Alpine Visitor Center parking lot to be closed at various times because vehicle traffic will exceed capacity. There is a good chance that Old Fall River Road may also have to be temporarily closed for the same reason.
