New to turkey

Hi

Thinking of going to grand aquarium in July . Never been to Turkey before. Any recommendations for hotel and resort. Two adults two kids 17, 12. How bearable us the heat beginning of July ? Also how long does a private transfer take from dalaman to iclemer? The transfer time of 2 1/2 hours is putting me off slightly

Thanks

As you are on the Icmeler forum you will get lots of people telliing you to go to Icmeler. And they will be right

Lovely resort very pictureque and a decent size not too big but not too small. Plenty to see and do, great choice of restaurants and bars.

Grand Aquarium are great apartments but are at the back of the village maybe a 25 minute walk to get right to heart of town although a dolmus is a 5 minute walk away with a further 5 minute ride.

generally the beginning of July is fairly hot about 35-40 during day and 20-25 at night. You will need air con in your apartment with those temps and cost id typically £35 per week

Coach transfer will take around 2.5 hours but a private one around 1h 20 m.

have you set your mind on the Grand Aquarium or are you still undecided. Let us know and i am sure you will get plenty of advice on where to stay.

Also take a look a questions on right side of the main page lots of great info on there

Dont forget you will need to buy a visa to get into Turkey, you can do this at airport but it is easy to do online before you go and much cheaper.

If you have any more questions ask away we are a friendly helpful bunch on here

It will be quite hot. We went in july a few years ago and it was in the 40s. Nice if you can stay near water to cool down. If your looking for self catering you could look at palm gardens. Basic but clean apartments. A nice pool and slide for children. Five mins to beach. One minute your in the middle of all the shops etc. Good food served at apartments also. A range of good and cheap food to pick from in the icmeler. Hope you find something

Palm gardens have a two ring stove, fridge and kettle. Perfect when you bye a cooked chicken from local shops, some fresh veg and a nice cuppa :) cheap as chips as well.

We've booked the Grand Aquarium 3rd week in May. We've stayed further out than that (Greenworld) and actually enjoyed staying in the old village. Tommys is close by (great bar/food) and its on the dolmus route. We enjoyed walking either to or from the centre of Icmeler. July will be quiet hot, we stayed at the Aqua the last week of July last year and one day it peaked 48 degrees (if you believe the temp signs). To be fair though, no matter where you stay, or when you go, you will have an amazing time as you've chosen to go to Icmeler.

The Grand Aquarium are great apartments, and I would also recommend the Palm Gardens.

I also enjoy staying in the village and this year will be at the Oren Hill apartments which are not too far from Tommys. Tommys is currently having a big refurb and looks good

One of the reasons we stay in the village is the peace and quiet and we enjoy the walk into the town. As we go in May its not too hot to walk about. However in July I would not fancy the walk

we stayed in grand aquarium two years ago, it was a fantastic holiday, we are a couple in our fifty's and although we went during the school hols we can highly recommend these apartments. Lots of fun during the day by the pool, and a lovely 15mins stroll into town on a night.
