Just come back from Icmeler, the turkish people do prefer GBP, take enough lira to last for the day and then change your money in supermarkets or restaurants. You may find that some of the turks might ask you if you can change 10 pound coins for a note as they find it difficult to changee coins in their banks

really useful reply - if leaving a small tip ie coffee etc is it better to leave in lira as you said they have trouble with exchanging £ coins

If you are only having a coffee or you are in a restaurant your bill will be in Lira so tip in Lira. If I've been happy with the service in restaurants I usually leave a tip of 10% of the bill.

Hi,

Is there any limit to how much £s you can change in the bars or are they happy to take £100 or so?

II've got about £100 in Lira but might just bring the rest in £s.

Travel next Saturday and looking forward to it!

Thanks!

Changing in multiples of £100 is a good idea, as it makes it a lot easier to work out how much you should be getting back.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like taking some GBP is the best bet. Looking forward to next week.
