Duty Free

We're thinking of spending a couple of days in Istanbul before flying down to Dalaman, and just had a thought - are we able to buy duty free when flying on the internal flight from Istanbul to Dalaman or would we have to buy it on the Scotland to Istanbul flight then put it in our cases when flying to Dalaman?

After arrival in IST, after passport control, there are numerous duty-free shops that sell among many other items, alcohol; after shopping you proceed to the domestic terminal (10 minute walk).

You can buy duty free at the airport in Scotland - but tell them you will be in transit and they will put the goods in a special clear plastic bag with the receipt stapled on the outside which you must not open until once you have gone through customs in Dalaman.

Sorry have just realised - you will be leaving the airport in Istanbul. Well then yes, you can buy either in Scotland or as Cagcag said at the Duty Free upon arrival in Istanbul, and then would have to put it into your suitcase in the hold for the flight to Dalaman.
