Worth visiting Mesa Verde for a day in May?

My husband and I are planning a 2+ week trip in May where we will be visiting several of the Utah national parks (Zion, Bryce, Escalante, Arches) and Antelope Canyon. He recently was told about Mesa Verde and it looks like we could fit it into our schedule. We would arrive at Mesa Verde early afternoon, stay at Far Views Lodge and then leave the next afternoon around lunchtime. My questions to you:

1. Given that Spruce Tree House is closed, Cliff Palace Tours will not be open and needing to get tour tickets upon arrival for Balcony House, is it still worth going to Mesa Verde if we're going to be there less than 24 hours (Arrive 2pm on Wednesday, leave 11am Thursday)? Will we even be able to get tour tickets for Balcony House?

2. If we do go, any thoughts on Far View Lodge? Originally we were going to get a tent site at Morefield Campground, but we will have been camping for about a week by then and decided we wanted to take a little break by staying at a hotel and this looks like it's the only one within the park.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Yes, definitely still worth it and staying at Far View Lodge is a good plan. The sites are nearly an hour into the park, so being at Far View makes the visit much more efficient. The restaurant there is excellent. You should have no problem getting tickets. Try for a visit that afternoon but failing that the next day. We've never had an issue getting tickets there even during peak periods.

Have fun.

Thanks Tumbleweed and Cactus! Do you know if we are still able to see and take pictures of the ruins that will be closed? (Even if from a distance?)

You can but it's a fair distance.
