Manassas Restaurant Suggestions for Dinner

Seeking suggestions for restaurants in Manassas, within a 10 mile radius of the Battlefield. We like upscale, but casual with a trendy and/or rustic atmosphere. Our favorite cuisine includes American or Mediterranean. A place with a good selection of salads and appetizers/tapas would be perfect. My husband is a meat eater; I am a borderline vegetarian but will eat seafood and cheese if that helps. The place doesn't have to be super-froofy-fancy, but we don't want to eat at some dive either. We are trying to avoid chains, family-restaurants, and dive-bar-pubs. Any suggestions?

I used to live in Manassas and have always thought of Carmello's as the best place in town. It is located in the old town historic area. The food is great but not cheap. I really like the seared scallops but they have great steaks as well. If you decide to try it be sure to make reservations. If you are in the mood for pizza Tony's is the place to go.

I realize you already made reservations at Carmello's, but for future reference (and for future visitors to this page), you definitely want to drive toward Old Town Manassas to eat if you are looking or non-chain and more upscale food as the rest of Manassas is pretty much chains or very casual dining (some of the casual non-chains have very good food though). There is plenty of parking and Old Town is a nice place to walk around after dinner, especially if the shops are still open.

Katerina's Mediterranean - super casual but excellent food (the baklava is made in house and worth a stop for dessert)

Malones of Manassas

Newer of the restaurants in old town, great menu

City Square Cafe:

City Square has a great varied menu and the food is always excellent and they have tapas M-F 4-7

The newest restaurant in Old Town is El Cactus, it is Mexican. My girlfriend at there with a group last week and really enjoyed it.

Carmello's is a good choice, too. I found Panino's better than Carmelo's but Panino is closed and they are focusing on Giraole in The Plains now (definitely worth the drive).
