Audio Tour: Official CD or via an App like TravelBrains?

I plan on touring several civil war battlefields this fall, Manassas being one of the many. For the purpose of traveling through the battlefields via car and using an audio guide of some sort, does anyone have any opinions whether it is best to use the official CD guides offered at some parks or to use an App like "Travelbrains"? Thanks!

You are in luck!

Thanks for your question as this was a new one for me. I've only done the tour using the paper map back in the pre-cell phone days. The last time I went to Gettysburg, I did the audio CD tour and it was really great, much better than the paper map :D

I called the NPS Manassas Battlefield Visitor Center (703) 361-1339) and they have a CD that you can purchase in the book store at the Visitor Center for about $20.

They also have apps from Battlefields.org

App for Battle of Bull Run is here: https:/…bull-run-battle-app

App for Second Manassas is here: https:/…second-manassas-battle-app

If you use the apps or the CD, let us know how they work out.
