leger holidays.very,very poor

we booked a trip to Castel Gandolfo and to Frascati too with our tour operator Leger Coaches. What a waste of time and money!!!!!!

all 26 of us on the coach were under the impression we were going to a vineyard or a winery in Frascati to sample the local tipple. no siree!!!! our driver dropped us off in Frascati and told us he'd be back in 3 hours time!!! no directions, no maps and no idea of what to do or where to go. Frascati is a town you can see easily in 1/2 hour. back on the coach several hours later, we head off to Castel Gandolfo under the impression that we would at least be able to see the gardens of the Pope's summer residence. the driver drops us at a car park out side the walls of the pope's home with a view over looking the local landscape and tells us we have 45 mins to take photos and stretch our legs!!!!! you cannot get into the grounds off the pope's summer home but Leger knew this before we set off. in their official itinerary it clearly stated that "the driver should drop all tourists at the car park and escort them to the gates off the ground, they cannot go in" they knew when we booked this trip that we wouldn't get in yet they still charged 20 euros each. Leger holidays are a very poor company and would never use them again and would advise others to be wary. we also had problems involving trips to Sorrento/Capri and Rome

If the official Itinerary said you were not going inside the Pope's garden, Why did you pay these guys 20 euro and go on the tour in the first Place? if you didn't find this out until you arrived at the bus, you should have demnded a refund befrero getting on the bus.

If you had problems with them in Sorrento and Capri, you would have to be intellectually slow to book another tour with them. Did that really happen? Why did you sign up for another tour after the first problem?

We used Leger travel a few times when i lived in the UK and always had good trips. These were to Germany. Rhine and Moselle, Christmas Markets.etc and also a weekend Rock Concert near Frankfurt. we stayed the nights in a hotel in Frankfurt and they bussed us to the concert and we could use the bus during the day. The drivers were good and often used to join us during the evenings. If we made good time going back to whichever channel port we were using they would make an unscheduled stop, for a bit of extra shopping.

I think Leger are a good company, they have been going for a long time so must be doing something right.

we had no tour rep with us on our entire trip. we only had 2 drivers, one driving whilst the other rested and they took turns to rotate the driving duties.the non driving driver came around the coach BEFORE we had even got to our destination hotel and said that all trips would have to be paid for in advance and before we arrived in Fiuggi. the itinerary that was passed around the coach was very basic in its contents and revealed no details of start times, return times or other details of the planned trips. we paid a total of 280 euros for the 4 trips we went on. the details of what was going to happen in Frascati were told to us when they dropped us off in the town square!! when we got to castel gandolfo we were then told that we could get off the coach but couldn't go in. at no earlier point were we informed of what exactly was planned for that leg of the tour.when some of our party finally complained about what was the point of coming to castel gandolfo the relief driver said "don't blame me, i'm only doing what the schedule tells me" he then produced his own personal Leger Coaches itinerary and showed us what it said ('the party cannot go into the grounds, just escort them to the gate") he and his partner knew this before collecting our money 5 days earlier but failed to pass this information on to the passengers. i'm guessing that if he had told people exactly what was in involved when collecting money no one would have gone on the trip. we did ask for a refund and were told "take it up with Leger i'm just doing my job".we do plan to take it up with Leger.

as for the problem with Sorrento/Capri, similarly we were not told about the the start time of the trip (6a.m.!!!) until the night before the trip ,as we were returning from a full day in Rome. had we been told when we booked that it would involve such an early start then many people wouldn't not have gone. once again the drivers were only concerned with getting as much money from the passengers as soon as possible.

I have travelled with Leger holidays on at least 6 battlefields tours & usually they have been good & interesting. Recently. however they have changed their coach change over policy & you now change coaches on the return journey in Calais & not Dover. This is VERY SEVERE RETROGRADE step as this is done in a dirty, litter strewn cashncarry wharehouse car park. . This happened to my party recently & we will NEVER AGAIN travel with Leger. Nowhere to sit--one just stands around outside with about 500/.600 others -all milling around--utter chaos. What if the weather had been poor??. Whoever at Leger designed this new policy must be either stupid,or insane --this changeover takes about 45/60 minutes & is extremely basic & amatuerish. Anyone who travels with Leger on this route--be warned--although your travel documents may still say DOVER--this is a blantant untruth & they merely refer to their unfair biased conditions--they may change whatever they wish. I will , in future, travel with their competitors, despite Legers protestations that this new change over system is an improvement--this is UTTER RUBBISH.
