Hotel near I80. looking for a value hotel in good area.

We are just driving through Omaha on I80. Wondering what areas to avoid and if you have any suggestions for a value hotel, preferably with continental breakfast.

Mostly interested in areas to avoid

Pick up a motel coupon book at rest areas,or truck stops. That is what we usually do for better pricing. Are you planning to do anything in Omaha,or is it just a stop for the night? The L street exit has motels, and the 72nd street has motels, and the areas are okay. There is some off interstate 680,but if you are just stopping for the night,it may be out of the way. If you pick up books, and see something interesting, you could post it on here, and somebody could tell you if it is okay,or would skip it.

La Vista area has a new Hampton Inn. There are also quite a few hotels around the 108th and L area. There is a lot of restaurant and shopping near here. Also the 72nd street exit as mentioned earlier. There is also a Comfort Inn near the zoo that seems to be busy a lot. Stay towards the west side of Omaha. There isn't a whole lost east of 72nd St exit unless you want to stay downtown but then your price will go up. There are a few casion hotels in Council Bluffs IA that you may be able to get a good rate at if you have a players card or know someone who does. All of the casino hotels are nice.

There are some decent hotels on the Council Bluffs side of the river just off the interstate at the Lake Manawa exit. There is a Fairfield Inn and a Settle Inn. This is a good area to stay in, with restaurants and Wal-Mart within walking distance. Very safe area.

Some of the traveler's hotels near the I-80 and Hwy 50 ( 144th street ) interchange would be good for you I would think. These are on the Western end of the Metro. Comfort Inn West, Quality Inn, Countryside suites. These all pretty much fit the 'value ' designation. Also the Super 8 at the Hwy 31 Gretna Exit a bit farther west.

The area is less congested and populated than the 72nd Street and 108th Street motels. No matter where you stop , remember to remove all articles of value from view in your car....

There are a couple of "truck stop" hotels in the area of I-80 and Hwy 50, they aren't bad but not what I would recommend. The new hotels just a scoch (LaVista as someone else recommended) further east (Embassey Suites and Hampton Inn both have breakfast and are solid hotels) and/or I80 and L would be just fine and safe for a quick stop-over.

There are opportunists any where you go so as Greyhorse said, don't leave what cha want to keep in your car!

I second (or third?) the Hampton Inn at exit 442. That area is quite nice, there are a couple of good food options just down the road (Jimmy John's, a good pizza place, Summer Kitchen Cafe) and I wouldn't worry at all about my personal belongings in this area of town.
