its an easy walk from ferry to the 'hillclimb' to PP market Walk towards the aquarium and across the street you will see the sign to the mkt. Its actually a series of elevators so there isn't much hillclimbing. You could walk from the market but you could also walk to 5th and pine and take the monorail from Westlake Ctr to space needle. Click on before you go tab and there are several articles of things to do.
What is the hillclimb?
I did check out the things to do, and contacted the Chamber of Commerce, I was just hoping for some local imput as to what is really worth seeing. So if you have anything to add, that would be great.
Yes you can walk from the ferry terminal up to the Pike Place Market. It's not too far. I'd recommend to walk up to 1st Avenue, then head north on that street (rather than take the Waterfront back-way route). It's the most flat and most direct.
From the Market to the Seattle Center is a bit more of a hike (maybe 1/2 hour?). I think taking the monorail is a fun idea. Or you can catch a Metro bus along 1st Avenue, again heading north. You'll see ones specifically called out "Seattle Center" on the front.
If you want to skip the 4-5 block walk uphill from Pike Place Market to the monorail station at Westlake, you could continue north along the waterfront and take in the new Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park and then walk east to the Space Needle from there. From the ferry station at the Pier to the Space Needle is a good distance walking. Take the monorail or a bus back to the ferry terminal. Unless monorails really excite you, I'd skip it. It is a very short ride and has a tendency to break down!
That is good to know about the monorail. I have a fear of tight quarters, and if it were to break down, I might freak.
Thanks everyone for the input!
