We will be camping in a few weeks in Custer State park and wondering if we need to worry about wild animals attacking our Dog in the campground
I'm surprised nobody answered this one.
I'm kind of a long-time visitor to the area and have done some camping there - primarily Legion and Sylvan Lake campgrounds. Your primary wildlife issue in the campgrounds (and away from them too) may well be the wild buffalo! They won't attack your dog, but they are protective, so be advised if huge wild animals make your dog act funny. The wild burros could be a concern too, but you won't generally find those near the campgrounds. WIld turkeys and deer are also common. A little common sense will get you through.
Much beyond that, Custer SP is a fantastic place for a dog. :)
