Where to start

Arrived here last night. Had dinner at Mr.B's Bistro (excellent) Then walked Bourbon St. Today my day begins at noon when my husband is finished with his meeting. Where is a good place to start to get a good Idea of what the city has to offer?

Take a carriage ride and your driver will show you lots, and you'll see places you will want to check out.

Things should start to pick up as people arrive for a long weekend. Agree with Poole on the carraige ride. Look for driver named Colin. He has long curly hair and usually wears a tan hat.

Mosey down Bourbon Street and stop by The Tropical Isle at 600 Bourbon Street, (the corner of Toulouse), to get a Handgrenade and hear some live music. Starting at 1:00 today Mark Penton & Frank Fairbanks will be playing.

French Quarter for what was quoted..they also have garden district tours but the prices go up appreciably for that and they also have to find a number of people that also want to do it...so the thirty minute french quarter should give you a good intro...also on st. ann at jackson square is the louisiana tourism office..brochures, coupons, and suggestions.

The $15 ride is about 30 minutes thru the lower FQ. You can arrange longer private rides for more money. Google Royal Carriages.
