The Freret St. Festival was really good over the weekend just past. There were lots of good food vendors there for a small n'hood festival. I'd say 20-30? Shish-ka-bobs from the Brazilian BBQ truck were my fave, huge amount of expertly grilled meat on a skewer. Had some wieners from Dat Dog - pretty good, but I am going back after the fest for the real Chicago dog experience, Very good Cuban pulled pork over saffron rice and fried plantain chips from some catering outfit - really tasty. Four music stages with some good acts - Subpie Barnes, Big Sam, etc plus MG Indians doing their thing. A very nice festival and very well-attended. Reminded me of the early FQF before it got wayyy too big. Afterwards hit the Fete Francaise at Mag. and Gen Pershing. Nice bands - a la francais, of course - Cajun, zydeco, etc. Moules and Frites, shots of French liqueurs, wine, food from the Link restaurants, La Petite Grocery, Crepe Nanou, etc. I ate an absurd amount of food Sat. and was an absolute slug on Sunday. Never made it to the Algiers festival. Great weather, good food, nice people - another perfect weekend in NOLA.

Went to Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo 2009. It's basically a neighborhood festival for the Mid-City area around Bayou St. John. A couple of good music stages, the usual NOLA food booths (New Orleans festival food is somewhat special), arts and crafts, etc. A very nice time, but nothing to build a vacation around. Easily accesible via the Canal St. Streetcar. I would visit in conjunction with some other Mid-City attraction (make sure the other attraction will be open at the time you plan to visit).

Thanks Katie.............If I come back to NOLA soon it will be right in between two of these festivals. I like peace and quiet. I won't be there for a festival. I did that.

8. Re: Remaining NOLA Festivals............

Katie.....Take your friends to the best in NOLA. Go to Galatoire's on Friday for lunch and spend a couple of hours with the locals all dressed up celebrating the beginning of the weekend. Go to Commander's Palace for Sunday jazz brunch. Go to the GD and Uptown, have drinks on the front porch of the Columns Hotel and dinner at Clancy's.

Take em to Antoine's for lunch and Mr. B's. Stay in the FQ. Go to Adolpho's, Italian Barrel and Coop's.

Go to Old Coffee Pot for breakfast. If you have another dinner go to Bon Ton. Good luck.
