Anyone Know this 4 STAR French Quarter Mystery Hotel?

I was searching on bookit.com and find these two hotels for $75-79/night:

4 Star, 4 Diamond French Quarter Hotel!

The AAA 4 Diamond Award Winning Mystery Hotel allows for quick access to both the excitement of Bourbon Street and nearby downtown attractions of Harrah's Casino, Aquarium of The Americas and the Morial Convention Center.

The map shows this hotel to be on Canal and Baronne St.

4 STAR Downtown Mystery Hotel

Located in the heart of the Downtown Central Business District. Only a short stroll away from all major attractions, it is within a few blocks of the French Quarter, Superdome, Riverfront, and the Convention Center. This 4-Diamond hotel has an intimate, gourmet fine dining restaurant. Luxurious accommodations at the lowest prices EVER !!!!

Again, the map shows it to be located on St. Charles and between Poydras and Perdido St.

Anyone has any idea what are these hotels? Any feedback on using bookit.com?

I think the 4-star Downtown mystery hotel is the Intercontinental on St. Charles.

For the 4-star French Quarter mystery hotel, I'm guessing the Chateau Sonesta (although I don't think it's won the AAA 4 Diamond award) or the RITZ CARLTON, and if it turns out to be the Ritz Carlton (which the address seems to suggest it is), then you should get it NOW b/c the Ritz Carlton for $75-9 is way too good to pass up. It's arguably the best hotel in the city.

Thanks, worldtraveler786. You have always been so helpful. Another question: Which one is closer to Harrah's, The Ritz or the Renaissance Arts (which I can book directly from Marriott at about the same rate, can be canceled, and earn points)? We will be in NOLA over the weekend and we will have a car. Will try to park at the Harrah's over the weekend if we could not find street parking. Too cheap to pay for the $30 daily parking fee :-)

The Renaissance Arts is in the Warehouse District, whereas the Ritz Carlton is in the French Quarter, but both hotels are within walking distance of Harrah's. The Renaissance Arts is a little closer (4 blocks away) versus the Ritz Carlton (6 blocks away), so the distance is pretty negligible.

There are also 2 (nice & very nice) Marriotts in the immediate area.

If you can confirm that the 4-star mystery is the Ritz Carlton, then I would still go with that because you won't be able to find that deal for the Ritz anywhere! Otherwise, the Renaissance Arts is a good bet, especially if you get points for it; I'm a Hilton Honors member, so I'm all about the points!

Thank you all for your feedback! I am just a little concerned that the French Quarter mystery hotel might actually be Chateau Sonesta, and in that case, I would rather stay at the Renaissance. Maybe this is the case that's worth the gamble? The most I'll lose is $20 booking fee. Mmmm, decision, decision...

I'll let you know what the mystery hotel is if I do book...

Just curious. You say you're concerned if it might be the Sonesta? Any reason? Is the C-Sonesta that much worse or lower rated than others?

I'm asking because I'm looking for late fall or Deember places for two weeks, and I tend to like the larger hotels. My usual, Bourbon Orleans, has been sold off by Wyndham, and they probably won't be offering the former usual half-price plus upgrade offer.

It apppears that I may be searching for one of the Book It specials, or do a bidding on Priceline, but only if I can specify the place.

Otherwise, if the 24 hr parking in outdoor lots off Iberville are $30 a night, and if I rented a Winnnebago..... hmmmm

youngcurm,

It's a bit early, but check Travelzoo in Aug / early September for hotel buys. The thing I like about them is that you *know* which hotel you are getting. That's where we found the killer deal for the Monteleone. We're coming again in Oct, but I know the deals won't show for at least a month on TZ.

Unless Ritz Carlton has changed senior management, they are not participating with "blind bidding" sites with rates for under $100.

I'm guessing this is the Astor Crowne Plaza or the Chateau Sonesta. The Chateau Sonesta is about to start a major renovation and this may be why the rates will be lower.
