What to do if it rains in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge

Like many others I am coming to Gatlinburg this weekend and will be staying for a week. I am really excited and have a very full list of activities planned. I know there was a drought recently, but it seems that's over now. Forecast calls for at least a chance of rain on several days. I'm looking for ideas of things to do if we do have some rainy days. Thanks!

That "chance of rain" is the typical small chance of the afternoon thunderstorms that can form over the mountains...it won't be "all day" type rains.

Plan your outdoor activites for the morning hours and be early risers. Then, in the afternoons and evenings when the storms are more likely, plan for some indoor activities like the aquarium, museums, shopping outlets, etc.

There's very little chance your going to get full rainy days.

If you enjoy gocarts or putt putt there is an indoor slicktrack and putt putt in Gatlinburg near the aquarium. Also the Ripley's Haunted Adventure is good and indoors. You can purchase a combo ticket to the Aqaurium and the Haunted Advemture. The A - Maze - in Mirrors is indoors and fantastic.Lots of fun for all ages. Just beside it is Circus golf also indoor and they offer a combo ticket for the two attractions. There is always the outlet shopping in Pigeon Forge. Across from the Ole Time Pottery is an anex of shops that have really grest prices. There is a t-shirt shop that sells name brand clothing as well as t-shirts, a tool shop and a bag and purse outlet. Plan to eat dinner early evening late afternoon because that is when it usually comes up a rain in the area.

Remember the mountains are huge. Just because its raining in Gatlinburg doesn't mean its raining in Cades Cove or Cherokee. Walking a trail just after a rain helps the air smell fresher.

If your staying at a chalet, we take rainy days to relax! If your bound and determined to make the most of your time there, try the aquarium, take a couple of umbrellas or wear slickers and just walk the strip, the stores are so close you can check out one after the other without hardly getting wet.

Hope you have fun!

Oh yeah, another thing is to take a ride up to Ober Gatlinburg and go ice skating. We always do this in the summer, it's alot of fun and inexpensive!
