How far is our hotel from Ground Zero...

Ok, staying at the Wythe in Brooklyn, how far or how long is it subway wise to get to Ground Zero... we land at LaGuardia at 11:30AM, then plan on checking in and luggage, then what? Lunch in Brooklyn, or hit the subway to GZ area for lunch and 4:30 reservation??

... and any lunch/dinner suggestions :)

Thanks!!!

maps.google.com is a great resource for seeing subway directions and approximate times. They combine walking and subway routes. Just hit the train icon above the directions section. It's roughly 30 mins.

"Ground Zero" is a term that some New Yorkers find offensive.

It's unclear what you want for lunch/dinner suggestions. What is your preferred location, ambiance, cuisine and price point? Do you want burgers? sushi? pizza? steaks? deli? tapas? seafood? street tacos? Asian dumplings? Crepes? a 4 course fine dining experience?... endless other possibilities. There are so many great places to eat!

There's no real reason to stick to the WTC or your Brooklyn hotel location for dinner. Any thoughts on what else you want to do that night?

You are about 40 minutes away including walking time. And I have never heard "Ground Zero" being offensive.

Platna, the general consensus in the NYC forum is that it should be referred to as the "World Trade Center" or the "9/11 Memorial"

Yeah, New Yorkers are pretty hard to offend. Leastwise, I've never heard anyone here complain about the term Ground Zero. As far as eating goes, that neighborhood is mostly financial with a few bars and a smattering of overpriced restaurants. I'd head uptown to TriBeCa, Soho or the East/West Villages for dinner.
