Cherry Trees at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Driving from JFK to World Trade Center on Wednesday afternoon (about 2 PM), I understand that the cherry trees at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are just beginning to bloom. Does anyone have any personal knowledge if this might be worth a stop? ( We are going to be in DC later, but I know they are already past peak and will be well past by the time we get there.) How much additional time do we need to add to our travel time if we elect to include this?

No way to know if you consider it worth a stop. Why on earth are you driving from JFK to WTC? What route were you planning to take, will you have luggage with you, and what do you expect to do with the car once you get to Manhattan?

Look, it's a given that I'm going from JFK to WTC, so I don't get how any of those "why on earth" questions are relevant. Nor am I asking about things like where to park my car; I already have a place. I'm just asking about the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and if you don't know about it, then you don't know. I appreciate your concerns about everything else, but those aren't the things I need help with. Thank-you.

If we do go to the Botanic Gardens it will mean taking Atlantic Avenue most of the way across Brooklyn, and entering Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. Otherwise, depending on traffic reports, it could be by the Van Wyck Expressway or Woodhaven Blvd. to the Long Island Expressway. And, yes, I'm very aware that by the time we leave JFK we will be in a crawl of rush hour traffic no matter which route we take.

As for whether it is worth it or not, just a couple of trees blooming would not be worth it, but a couple of dozen trees blooming would.

I was there this past Friday and many are at the very early stages of pre-bloom. The Weeping Cherries by the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden were far more along than the others. Some of the Magnolias have started to bloom. https://www.bbg.org/collections/cherries

Great! Maybe there will be something by Wednesday, but far short of peak it seems. Thanks for the info.
