We are planning a trip to Savannah the end of September, and then on to Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains National Park. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions on the better of the two routes Google Maps suggests.
#1- drive through the Smokey Mountains (which appeals to us) taking approx 7 hours
#2-driving through S.C. and through Asheville, which is approx 6 hours.
Aside from the fact we are planning on visiting the Smokey Mountains, we were wondering if there are any pros or cons on routes either way? Road issues, additional interesting stops either way? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :-)
Thanks so much,
