2 day stay need help

We are coming to Savannah in September around the 3rd week.

A few questions:

1. Is this a good place to stay, they have a free ferry that shuttles visitors to Savannah's historic district ?

Or what would you recommend ?

2. We are there for only 2 days, so what sights must we see, we have a car ?

3. Any must eat restaurants or food to try ?

4. Is the weather still warm for shorts ?

Thanks for any help you can provide

Still warm enough for shorts. Any restaurant with local shrimp. Top restaurant would be the River House Seafood restaurant. Really good. Much better then the "famous " Pink House. Vinny van GoGo's for pizza and people watching in City Market. I think your staying at the Westin because of the free ferry shuttle ? Take a trolley tour of the HD when you 1st come over to give you an idea of what you want to see closer up. The City of Savannah also has a free trolley that go's around the HD that you can use. The HD is basically a square and very walkable. The NW part of the HD will give you the best access to restaurants, museum, museum house, Visitor Center, City Market and access to River Street.

The ferry is free for everyone.

It is public transportation and provides access to the convention center on the island in the river, as well as the Westin next door. It's not a Westin ferry, but a CAT ferry.

The Westin has the best pool in the HD, mainly because it's on the island and has plenty of ground for an in ground pool. It's a true resort style pool. Also a great place to watch fireworks over the river.

For restaurants... there are several forum posts with suggestions but here are a couple:

- Elizabeth's on 37th, fine dining in a renovated historic home/mansion. Restaurant was started by Beard winner Elizabeth Terry and since her retirement, her two brothers are running it (and still act as servers) with Kelly Yambor, Executive Chef, having taken over the kitchen and maintained the fresh to table, southern cuisine. Not walkable, will need your car. Reservations a must.

- Husk. A relative newcomer to the Savannah food scene by Beard winner Sean Brock. Really nice conversion of home with the kitchen serving local ingredients and getting praise. Walkable from your location and reservations a must. The bar upstairs is worth a visit.

- Circa 1875. A french bistro which serves really nice food in a comfortable location very close to River Street so definitely walkable from the ferry.

All of the above have numerous reviews and pictures here at Tripadvisor. Have fun. :)
