We will be stopping in Jacksonville for the night on our way to Florida's gulf coast. We will be traveling with two kids and will be there on a Friday night. I was interested in going to the downtown/riverwalk area for dinner so we could experience a little of the city instead of just staying in a suburb area and eating at a chain. However, I'm looking for feedback as to whether this is a good idea with kids? Is the area safe to walk around? Kid friendly?
I had thought about seeing the Friendship fountain and perhaps walking over the main street bridge. Again this would be early evening/dinner time. Good ideas or no?
