Flying to Florida to catch a cruise

We are flying to Jacksonville Airport and need to get to Carnival cruise terminal/port. Is it better to arrange transfer through Carnival or take a cab? (There are 4 of us) any thoughts?

Can't imagine Carnival wouldn't have a free transfer. If the transfer isn't free, compare prices between Carnival's rate and a local cab company's rate. Let us know what Carnival says

Cruise lines are notorious for overcharging for transfers. If you book thru Carnival you will probably get stuck on a bus with 40 other people and pay more than if you just took a taxi.

www.cruisecritic.com is trip advisor's sister site for all thing's about cruises. You should be able to find info about the Port of Jacksonville and also your ship and ports of call, lots of good info on cruise critic.

If you read info on cruise critic you will also find that the cruise lines over charge for shore excursions at ports of call. Quite often you can arrange your own transportation much cheaper than Carnival's rates.

There is a charge to use Carnivals transfer- $15 one way and $30 Round trip (which is pp). Called Gator City taxi service-metered rate $28 for the 4 of us!

Thanks for your input!!
