Where to stay in Cooperstown?

Since Cooperstown is village-sized, not a sprawling metropolis, I don't know what "too far" means.

What people may be alerting you to is the fact that if you've not already booked & because Cooperstown is so popular, it's very unlikely you'll find ANY place in town -- with swimming on premises or not -- with availability for a summer stay.

The Otesaga, a vintage resort kind of hotel on the lake in town, is great, but it is expensive... and again, availability is dubious. I've also stayed at the Terrace Motor Inn north of town on State Rte. 80. Certainly not a resort, but reasonably priced and the rooms are very clean, large & comfortable. It is set on a large piece of property, has a pool, and the people who own/run it are very nice.

An additional problem I foresee is the size of your party. Are you willing to book 2 rooms? If not, your best bet is probably to look for a house/cottage to rent, but (if still available) these typically require a week-long minimum stay which may not fit your schedule or pocketbook.

I think your best resource would be the Cooperstown/Ostsego County Tourism Center's web site

And here's a local, lodging booking service:

Good luck!
