MTA One-day Fun Pass

Hello everyone,

Can two people share this pass? So, swipe, walk through, swipe, walk through? We may need only a couple of rides, but don't want to be buying tickets all the time.

We may also use the bus--would one card be able to be shared on the bus?

Thank you for your help.

No, you cannot share it -- once you swipe it, it will not work again for a fixed amount of time (18 minutes or thereabouts, I believe). Each person needs a separate card if you're buying any of the unlimited ride cards (like the one-day Fun Pass). You can share the same card if you're using a pay-per-ride card.

And yes, Metrocards work on the bus as well as the subway.

You can look once you get to the Metro card machine, and decide what is cheaper for you.

Two fun passes (or 1 day unlimited) cards, which will get you as many rides as you want for (8.25 x2) $16.50

or a per ride card (which as stated above can be shared) a $10 per ride card will give you 4 rides or two round trips.

Both include bus transfers so depending where you are going you can decide which is better for you, but with unlimited you will have to have two separate cards.

With the per ride card you can just use the same one (but it may cost more)
