Greenwich - Things to do/see

HI All,

Looking for things to see/do on Friday 15th June in Greenwich Village (not food places etc as we have those down), but more cool streets etc. and places worth exploring.

Thanks :)

is a great site for self guided walks of various areas. The woman who writes it originally lived in the village when she started the blog. Here's a link to one of her posts on the area but she has many more depending on your interests.

BTW, if you abbreviate Greenwich Village, call it The Village to avoid confusion with a city in Connecticut.

The walking tour link that nywhiz posted is excellent.

Definitely check out Washington Square Park, Bleecker Street, etc.

A Friday in June in the Village?

Walk to Washington Square Park and just sit down and people watch! You will see a huge spectrum of NYC'ers doing everything from reading, skateboarding, running around the fountain, performing, singing, etc.

Washington Square Park for sure. The classical pianist might be there in the park playing for everyone. There's bound to be other buskers too.

Maybe walk and have a look at some of the really pretty small streets just north of the park. 9th and 10th Sts are really pretty.

There's a tiny gated street called Washington Mews which is really different for Manhattan. Small townhouses, very private. If the gate is open, just wander in. Between 5th Ave and University Place one block up from the park.

It's not far to walk to either Union Square (north) or the East Village (east). Lots to see and do here too.

If you are walking towards Union Square, you might as well walk towards Gramercy Park and walk around it. Only residents have the key to get inside, but it is still a pleasant stroll around.
