4th of July fireworks (U.S.S. Midway)

My family and I are getting to san diego on the 4th for 8 days. Has anyone gone to the USS midway to see the fireworks? Is it worth the $38 for a family of 4 (online pricing). Tickets go on sale online June 5. Just need some advice on this one; everything else I have already planned out. Will be getting in to san diego about 11:00 am .Staying in mission valley and will have a car .

"Worth it" is always a relative term. My husband and I are going and we are taking 2 foreign students with us . You can see fire works from many vantage points without paying any money.

You can driv eto Mission Bay and watch the Sea World fireworks. You can drive to Kate Sessions Park between Pacific Beach and LaJolla and watch from the top of the hill. You can go across the bay to Coronado. It is up to you. Everywhere will be crowded.
