USS Midway Parking on 4th of July

We have tickets to the evening 4th of July event at the USS Midway. I am trying to figure out logistics for parking and/or transportation to the event. I can live with paying surge pricing for Uber or Lyft or whoever, but I worry that when the show is over, even getting a driver at all will be a nightmare, and we will have two tired kids with us. We will have a car, but I am not sure we would be able to find anywhere to park. Any advice on the best choice would be appreciated!

We have driven to downtown early in the day and found free street parking since there are no meters on July 4. In addition the Midway has a parking lot.

Where are you staying? You can also just take our lightrail into downtown.

Either Uber/Lyft to the station or drive to one and park there.

The USS Midway has pay parking that I would use.

The light rail (SD Trolley) is also a good idea, but involves a bit of walking.

We are staying on Mission Bat, near El Carmel Point. I thought about using the trolley, but it looked like it quit running too early. Does it run later on 4th of July?

Don't confuse the SD Trolley (light rail) with the Old Town "Trolley", a hop on hop off tourist bus.

The SD Trolley doesn't go to Mission Beach, you'd have to catch it at the Old Town Trolley Station, but it runs until past 11PM.

Ah! Thanks for the clarification, because that is 100% what I was doing.
