best tent camping near Asheville?

I'm planning a camping trip to the Asheville area this fall. We want family style tent camping. water and electric would be great with kids. Nothing too commercial, but not too primitive either. Any ideas?

The local KOA campgrounds seem to have pretty positive reviews here on TripAdvisor. They'll probably be your best bet because the campsites run by the Park Service typically don't have showering facilities and might be a bit too primitive for you.

The campground on Mt. Pisgah. You just can't get any better than this.

Look into either camping at Lake Powhatan, which is about 20-25 min Southish of Asheville and near the Blue Ridge Parkway or maybe near Black Mountain. There is a KOA around Black Mountain that gets good reviews and is nice. Black Mountain is about 15 min East of Asheville. Or also as someone else recommended Mt. Pisgah, which is a sweet spot too. Higher elevations will be cooler though especially in the Fall, so keep that in mind.

We recently camped at Lake Powhatan Recreation Area--a wonderful camping location for tents, back-in RVs, pop-up tent trailers or just about any type of camping. The campground is large with several loops and pretty densely wooded. The camp hosts in Lakeside Loop were wonderfully cheery and helpful. (The sites at this loop are not really on the lake, but are just a short hike or bike ride away.) The campground is just a short drive (15 mins) from downtown Asheville, close to a Blue Ridge Parkway access, and also just about a 5-7 minute drive from a large grocery store (Ingles). We were utterly pleased with this campground.
