Fishing holes in or near Weaverville

Rented a cottage for a few nights in Weaverville near Asheville. Planning on getting up early one of the mornings and enjoying a few hours of peaceful fishing nearby.Does anyone know of any spots around that I can get to without travelling too far...

Might try the French Broad River to the west. Great for smallmouth bass. If you want to fish for trout try the Laurel/Shelton Creek 45 minutes north near Hot Springs. North Mills Creek south of Asheville is another good trout stream.

HI there,

The Asheville CVB here. The Big Ivy community in Barnardsville (just north of Weaverville) has a fishing lake. If you're looking for a fly fishing spot then the French Broad River is your closest location.

Have fun!
