Covered in our top questions including the one which says Alcatraz book 90 days in advance
On a phone that same info is visible via post 2
As noted above, buying tickets in advance is pretty much required. And it’s not just in summer; the place is a year round global tourist destination. Tickets go on sale 90 days in advance at alcatrazcruises.com, which, as also noted above, is the exclusive ticket seller. Any other websites are resellers that charge more because they bundle the tickets with other tours.
In winter you can wait a little longer before buying tickets but walking up and getting a same day ticket any time of year is almost unheard of. And if you want the night tour, book as soon as possible.
Absolutely. We had pre-booked the 11.30 on Saturday last week. As we walked up the prepaid line, the lady said over the loudspeaker that no further tickets were available for today (ie Saturday) and only one slot was left for Sunday. Many pissed off people in the queue who didn’t do their research, don’t be one of them.
Ticket touts buy up the Alcatraz tickets, hence why you should book in advance from the official site.
