Visiting in June/July from NC. 2 Adults, 12 yo and 8yo. Seeking rec for local dining that is not super fancy but offers great food. Looking for good seafood, italian, chinese and american. We prefer mom and pop places for the consistency and quality. We are staying at the Omni. Thank you!

Tadich Grill (old time SF), Wayfare Tavern (modern American), R&G Lounge (Chinese).

Many others.

>>>the doorman at the Omni will recommend some good places<<<

The doorman will send you places that will kick back to him.

For seafood Tadich Grill is a favorite of mine for a lot of reasons, including consistently good food. The same goes for Sam's Grill.

Italian is hard because there are at least two dozen really good places, maybe three dozen. With kids in tow I'll say Franchino, Trattoria Contadina and Delfina.

For Chinese, are you familiar with dim sum? I'd say go to Yank Sing for a dim sum lunch. And not Chinese, but Vietnamese, Turtle Tower is a great place for pho on those cold summer days in SF.

For "American" food I am a sucker for Gott's Roadside in the Ferry Building.

Perbacco is just a few blocks down California Street and is very good.

Kokkari is also within walking distance.

TSS’ first two suggestions were going to be mine, as well. So two +1’s from me.

I like the suggestion for Gott's! Very good comfort food. They have locations in St. Helena & Napa also. 😎

Try Farrallon, serve whole big lobsters.

I don't consider Farallon a "mom and pop" establishment.
