Mid/late April restaurants & activities

My husband & I (and 2 small kids-2 yr old & infant) are in town for the next week. We are looking for things to do or places to see. Also we are looking for restaurants that have good seafood, that might be open this time of year- with the overcast weather some chowder would be great! Thanks for any advice!!

Good clam chowder at both Galyn's and Geddy's, right next to each other on lower Main Street (lower meaning toward the water and across from the waterfront park).

Town Hill Bistro and Red Sky, in Town Hill and Southwest Harbor respectively are great restaurants, although maybe not for the little ones. They would be welcome though. Mache Bistro will be opening for the season on the 26th. These three restaurants are all open only Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this coming week. Mache is on Cottage Street, the other end from Main Street.

McKay's is on Main Street, the other end from Galyn's and Geddy's. They should be open most if not all nights of the week. Side Street Cafe, on Rodick Street, which intersects Cottage Street is open for lunch and dinnner. Jordan's on Cottage Street is open for breakfast and lunch. It's more of a diner than the other restaurants.

There is a playground behind the YMCA that might be good for a two-year-old. Running around the two village parks is often fun for the little ones. Although the Jordan Pond House is not yet open, one can stop there and run around the tea lawn, enjoying the great view of the pond and the mountains.

Great chowder at Thirsty Whale on Cottage Street. Families are welcome there. I second the vote for Side Street - my kids love it and there is great food.
