restaurants near Bar Harbor Motel

I realize that Bar Harbor Motel is a mile from town, down a busy road. Are there any places within 1/4 mile that a family could walk to for a meal? A bakery for breakfast items sure would be nice...

No, there is not a bakery in easy walking distance of the Bar Harbor Motel. But Morning Glory Bakery is a five minute drive, as are several very good breakfast restaurants in the village of Bar Harbor: Two Cats, Cafe This Way, Jordan's. The road isn't really all that busy at breakfast time. There's no rush hour in Bar Harbor. Nor is all that hard to find a parking spot in the morning.

Right next door to the Bar Harbor Motel is Jack Russell's Steakhouse for dinner and across the street the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel's a La Cart breakfast is open to the public.

I second Cafe This Way. And of course all the ice cream shops in town are good too.

depending on when you are visiting you can easily take the Island Explorer into town, where you will have many more options. Cafe this Way is a good choice for breakfast along with Jeannies on Cottage Street. Some other good options for lunch/dinner are Galyns, Route 66 (ownership change within the past few years), Poor Boys and Mckays. The island explorer runs from late June to Columbus Day and stops at the BH Motel.

We've stayed at the Bar Harbor Motel two years ago and are returning this year at the end of July. It's a lovely place, people are friendly, pool is great for kids and the rooms spotless. Right next door is Jack Russel's-you can walk. Make sure you order the blueberry soda for the kids-incredible. Also Poor Boy Gourmet-in town-300 Main St. is a bargain. They have an early bird for about $10 you can't beat and is family friendly. Make sure you go to Jordan Pond Restaurant for lunch and get out into the park! Go to the visitor's center first. Have a great time.

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Motel in July 2011. Very nice hotel for families. In the lobby, you will be able to look at the actual menus from many local restaurants. It's quite easy, and MUCH more efficient, to drive into Bar Harbor for breakfast. Parking and traffic are not a problem at this time. Lunch and dinner are more challenging and you would do better to ride the Island Explorer bus, which picks up right in front of the motel. Jack Russels is next door and the staff is very welcoming. It's really cool to sit at a rooftop table.

The Bar Harbor Regency just opened a restaurant called La Bella Vita in the hotel which is across the street from Bar Harbor Motel. There is one downtown at the Harborside Hotel and the food is good.
