Has anyone stayed here?
Do you have a web link?
I think Vie should be View.
this may be one link:

Several other links Google: Hakalau Ocean View Cottage
Yes it should have been view. That's the one!
Haven't stayed there, but live on Hamakua.
Hakalau is the perfect place to stay to enjoy rural beauty and commune with nature, relax, meditate, get away from it all.
Not a great choice as a base for running around seeing the island. So it depends on what you are looking for.
Hakalau is 20-25 minutes from the heart of Hilo, and in-between the two are no gas stations, and essentially no restaurants other than a burger pizza place in Honomu. The only stores are very limited convenience stores.
The other direction, the road winds around deep gulches, and Laupahoehoe is your only community with services -- a Minit Stop and a diner -- until you get to Honoka'a.
The only way to get to the coast near Hakalau is Kolekole, which is some rough ocean, and kind of in a gulch.
Would best serve people who wanted to fix meals on premises.
hey, if you told me to go stay there for a week to forget everything else I would be quite happy, but I've already seen the island.
