Irish Fest weekend

We live in the Chicago area and want to come up the same weekend as the Irish Fest. Will downtown be crazy busy? Is the Irish Fest fun, does it have seating there? Looking for fun things to do just there Sat-Sun, we would like to go out for a nice dinner. Any suggestions will help. We have Marriott points to stay downtown, thanks

These weekends are busy but it is still easy to get around. Once you get here you can walk everywhere. There is a nice new Marriott that is in the middle of downtown and is close to Irish fest, near the art museum and other attractions. Dining options are plentiful. You will need to narrow down with your own criteria. But definitely come. It is not like trying to get around downtown Chicago on a busy weekend. You won’t have any big problems.

Irish Fest is our favorite of Milwaukee's many ethnic festivals.

There are many stages, big and small. You can see who is playing when and where on the Irish Fest website.

The Summerfest grounds where Irish Fest takes place is built to hold crowds. There is plenty of seating, picnic tables as well as bleacher seating closer to the stages. There are also picnic tables away from the stages along the lakefront. There are also real bathrooms, no port a potties.

As long as rooms are available you can come and enjoy yourself. In addition to the Milwaukee Marriott there is a Residence Inn, Courtyard and Springhill Suites in downtown Milwaukee. You can take a shuttle bus on Wisconsin Ave to Irish Fest from any of those hotels.

Most of the crowds will be going to Irish Fest, so if you want to enjoy dinner, museums and other activities you shouldn't be overwhelmed.

Book your hotel as soon as possible. Irish Fest can bring in a lot of visitors to town and the hotels fill up fast.....and can be expensive. Doing a quick Expedia search for that weekend show hotels in downtown ranging in the upper $200-$300 price range.

Mary said she has Marriott points, so if she can use those it would be huge.

There’s a brand new Westin downtown that’s actually the closest hotel to Irish Fest. Plus it’s close to the bars and restaurants in the Third Ward. Best of all, Westin is part of Marriott, so you should be able to use your points. http://www.westinmilwaukee.com

Irish Fest is definitely worth checking out. Irish Fest has a hotel package right now with the downtown Brewhouse Inn & Suites - the package includes room accommodations, breakfast, Irish Fest tickets, FREE shuttle to & from festival so you don't have to worry about finding parking. The hotel is the former Pabst Brewery so the decor is stunning! They even kept the original beer tanks!

Dinner wise, you can't go wrong with The Milwaukee Public Market, the Milwaukee Alehouse or Ward's House of Prime!
