Birch Bay

We have a timeshare exchange in Birch Bay for 1 week, the second week we will be travelling to Vancouver Island for a Grizzly/Salmon trip.

Can you please advise what there is to do in Birch Bay area.

We love beautiful scenery, walking (not hiking), wildlife and water (watching the birds etc it attracts not being in it or on it in kayaks - lol).

Any advice/information will be greatly appreciated.

clamming, waterpark, go up to North Cascades/Mt Baker. Lots of things nearby to explore! It is very popular with people who live here, less popular with visitors like yourself. Daytrip to Vancouver would be fun, too -- get up early to get across the border before everyone else arrives.

Have you checked out this web site for the area?

Also the Blaine Chamber of commerce:

Check out or attend a program at Birch Bay State Park.

Golf at Semiahmoo Resort - or at one of the many other courses.

Walk the trails along the spit to Semiahmoo, one of the top birding areas in Washington.

Head east about 15 miles to the Dutch town of Lynden.

If you are coming this summer:

Blaine Jazz Festival. July 6-11, 2009

Birch Bay Discovery Days July 18-19, 2009(parade, arts and crafts festival)

Drayton Harbor Maritime Festival August 1 & 2, 2009

Thank you very much for both replies.

We have never tried clamming, but may whilst we are there. North Cascades/Mt Baker sounds interesting. I am sure we will love the area and find it interesting. We haven't been anywhere in the US yet that we havent.

thank you for the links - I've saved them so I can keep refreshing my memory before we leave.

Semiahmoo sounds good and we will definitely walk there, also Birch Bay State Park.

Our trip is in September.

Thank you both once again.
