Right place to stay haridwar/rishikesh

Hi FOlks, ANybody know, what is the right place to stay Haridwar/rishikesh, If we were to visit yamnorti/gangotri/Badrinath/kedarnath, meaning closest place that we can stay for about 6 days trip and visit all these places ?

Would it better to take the chardham by organised tours and do on our own say by hiring a Taxi ?

Thanks a great deal

there is a really nice ashram in Rishikesh - Swami dayanand saraswati ashram.

regarding the 4 dham, i would suggest find a reliable guide and book a taxi separately - u will have a better time as compared to a tour operator.

Alot of touts there, so be careful. Have a good friend who does rafting trips in rishikesh - can ask him for some suggestions.

Hotel Alakananda (property run by Up Tourist deptt.)is in the best location of hardwar, away from hustle-bustle right on the bank of holy Ganges.

Sisamjhari Ganga Resort at Rishikesh, run by GMVN, excellent location facing Ganges with a backdrop of hills. Just superb!!

The room rate for Rishikesh Ganga Resort (Sisamjhari) = Rs.1900 - 2500

and for Hotel Alaknanda (Haridwar) = Rs.1800 - 2400. Both can be booked online thru webpage of GMVN and UP tourism respectively.
