Trails during Archery Hunting Season?

Just booked a trip for mid October. Planning on biking with the kids through the trails. Just read that Archery hunting starts Oct 1 "around the trails"...

Are the trails still open?

Is it safe to be biking with kids?

Trip is booked so it would be a bummer if our plans fell through.

Greetings Sween,

I just did a weekend trip down to Green Bay /Gallion State Forest for a bit of a walk on the trails, I personally stay off of & out of areas when hunting season starts.

If you are going into the national wildlife refuge check with them . I don't think they allow hunting but I could be mistaken. (Assiteague Island National Wildlife Refuge)

There is only VERY limited hunting permitted on the Refuge - by permit only and usually for wounded veterans and their escorts. These hunts are in a separate section of the Wildlife Refuge and do not impact visitors or the hiking trails at all. You & your kids should enjoy October - it's a great time for biking & hiking on Assateague!
