So are the bugs, flys and mosquitos really bad in August??

We have a hotel booked for a short stay with the kids but a friend suggested we may want to reconsider saying the above are really bad and can drive you nuts especially anywhere near the water.

It all depends on the weather - if we have hot, no breeze days after rainy nights - we get swarms. If the breeze is blowing, they disappear. I use bug spray and they don't keep me from enjoying my summer!

I agree with the other poster. It all depends on the weather. There were two instances of a lot of rain recently...thus mosquitos. Staying out of the grass in the early AM and dusk helps. No mosquitos at the beach. The plane flew over this AM...that always helps. I spray with some Off or something and go on with enjoying my time. Good luck ...have fun!
