Will there be foliage left???

Hi, we are traveling late in October and we were wondering if the Fall foliage will still be there as late as 25- 28 October ? And how cold and how wet will we get?

thank you for any help.

Cheers

There will be some late color, not a lot but still pretty. The trees will have mostly shed their leaves by then but it is still pretty and a short drive to the Champlain Valley will probably get you some color. Be ready for any kind of weather...35-45 and wet or 50-60 and dry. We have had snow that time of year in the past as well as 70+ degree days. Look at he 10 day forecast before you visit!

I'm shocked. Can't imagine there is typically much, if any foliage left that late in Oct. And not much in the Champlain Valley either.

Thanks guys, After a few feed backs, we are more realistic about the dates we are going, unfortunately, we cant bring our time forward, but it will still be a lovely look at the area. We have decide not to go as far north now, and will drive from Finger Lakes to Bennington or Albury and look around the Bershires. Fingers crossed it will be a late Fall later this year. Thanks again

Late October does not have to be all doom and gloom. For one, the masses of tourists have largely moved on, making for a slower pace and a better glimpse of the real Vermont. If you get a nice day, the landscape can still be stunning. Even if leaves are mostly down, not everything has turned drab and brown like it is later in November and December. If you like to hike, the lack of leaves provide for much better viewing along the trail, and you'll likely be tromping through the colorful crunchy leaves on the ground.

If that's the only time you can come, then go for it! You may be pleasantly surprised.

Agreed. There are lots of nice woodsy places to see, as well as scenic vistas here and there. Depending on the weather, there may well be some foliage left that far south. Enjoy!

Agree Neslaw, it's pretty most every season. Late October is a fine time to walk in the woods. Just bring layers of clothing, depending on the weather.
