Wedding Weekend Activity Suggestions: End of May

I'm getting married in Waitsfield at the end of May and would love some weekend activity suggestions for our guests. Acc to the web site, the zipline and ski lift at Sugarbush don't open until June 27 so I'm a little nervous about activities this time of year. Any suggestions for activities as well as meet up spots for drinks and informal gatherings would be appreciated!

as73,

May is a great time for a canoe/kayak trip down the Mad River. Contact Barry at Clearwater Sports clearwatersports.com for trip planning. The hiking trails can be in good shape in May and we have lots to choose from in all skill levels. Road biking is another option & the wood may be dry enough but that is a last minute call.

For places to meet for drinks:

Casual:

The Local Folk Smoke House - good beer, local color

The Slide Brook Lodge

The Purple Moon Cafe - good food & small lounge area

Akes Den - a soon to open sports bar

Upscale:

Tracks Lounge at the Pitcher Inn - great food, wine list, billiards, darts & full size shuffle board table.

Another idea is a hike to Sunset Ledge for a picnic. A 45 minute hike opens up to a huge ledge that overlooks the western part of the state. Grab fantastic food at the Warren Store & head up.

Hope that helps,

Luke

For the sport minded people there is also Sugarbush's wonderful golf course as well as Couples Field where a softball/baseball game can be played !!
