We are visiting the area in mid-October. Please recommend nice scenic drives in the area.
Take Route 7A from Bennington to Manchester. Take a detour in Arlington on 313 (west) along the Battenkill to the Arlington Green Covered Bridge. Just above Arlington on 7A is Mount Equinox Skyline Drive. In Manchester Center take a left onto Route 30 to the lovely village of Dorset with the inn, general store and old building set on the small green.
It's Vermont! Pretty much all is scenic. Not sure if the lifts to top of Bromley or Stratton are running but if are, take the ride. Also, Stratton has trails to hike. Much more fun than watching leaves thru window. With that being said, I love visiting weston, country store and hanging on the village green.
Finding a non-scenic drive would be very difficult.
Brat would be a good place to stop for lunch or whatever and rt. 9 is scenic especially the top where it goes over Hogback mountain. And 100 on the way back is also really nice so you wouldn't just be seeing the same coming back.
sorry,I am writing on older thread as it is relevant question.
Is Manchester and nearby area on hill or on valley?
I am asking this question because Fall peak color are not that great on hill this weekend.
